Wet Rooms

Wet rooms - where the whole room is a wet area for showering in - are becoming increasingly popular. The concept of a wet room originated in Scandinavia where shower trays are not commonly used. Instead they install a waterproof membrane beneath the floor and wall tiles - effectively sealing the whole room.

When using our approved system even if the silicone, grout, adhesive or tile surface breaks down, water cannot pass through the underlying impervious membrane. Water on the floor surface runs to specialist stainless steel floor drains which again are carefully sealed into the membrane system.

When using power showers it is commonplace to fit a glass screen or enclosure to deflect water back, preventing other areas of the room from getting splashed. With a wetroom design, this procedure is not always necessary.
